The Ultimate 30 Minute Stair Workout (No Gym Required)

Lately I haven’t had the time to workout as much as I’d like which is no bueno because bikini season is upon us! Nothing gets me more excited to workout than putting on cute new workout threads! So I decided to use my new adidas kicks as motivation to give my workout routine a little makeover this Spring! One of my favorite ways to achieve a bootylicious beach bum is by running stairs. It kills a whole flock of birds with one stone. Seriously though, if you love plyometrics (aka workouts without machines and weights), multi-tasking annnnd saving time, keep reading because this work out is for you! Here are three reasons running stairs is a great workout for the busy girlboss:

#1. Its Free, Plus You Can Do It Anytime, Anywhere

No gym? No problem! Running stairs is great for a multitude of reasons, one of the main reasons being that it is Free.99!  You can literally maintain a stair workout anywhere, all you need is a flight of stairs, your running gear and voila, you are ready to rock and roll. If you are busy, this is a great option as well because you can work it in according to your schedule.

#2. Save Time, and Burn More Fat…say whhhat?!

Running stairs combines the benefits of squats, lunges and a solid cardio session all into one low-impact fat burning session! Um, yes please! Plus, you can burn twice the amount of fat in half the amount of time when you climb stairs vs. go for a run so it is literally a time saver on top everything else!

#3. It Doesn’t Matter How In Shape You Are!

That is worth repeating, it doesn’t matter how in shape you are! Plus, you can switch up your workout everyday! With a stair workout you can easily vary the degree of difficulty simply by walking vs. running, skipping a step or two, or adding in other exercises at the bottom or top of the stairs like push-ups, jump squats, sit-ups and mountain climbers just to name a few. Don’t be afraid to start, just start!
